Apricot Virtue
FOEDER-AGED GOLDEN SOUR ALE WITH APRICOTS
The Black Heron Project is a passion project where we create small-batch, experimental beers that focus on and highlight local grain, local hops, and local fruit.
Virtue is brewed with specialty malts produced by Skagit Valley Malting in Washington and Mecca Grade Estate Malts in Oregon to provide a spicy, earthy, malt backbone. It is then lightly hopped with Loral and US Golding hops from Yakima, WA which provide notes of fruit and citrus with just a hint of herbs.
The addition of Apricots grown by Valicoff Fruit Company in Wapato, WA, adds notes of apricot, lemon and white wine. Then foeder-aged and bottle conditioned, Apricot Virtue is a balanced golden sour ale with complex acidity, light sweetness and a smooth, mouthwatering and refreshing finish.
Down & Dirty: Mecca Grade Lamonta pale malt, raw white wheat, and rolled oats with Goldings hops and apricots.
