FOEDER-AGED GOLDEN SOUR ALE WITH CANTALOUPE
The Black Heron Project is a passion project where we create small-batch, experimental beers that focus on and highlight local grain, local hops, and local fruit.
For this beer we used specialty malts produced by Skagit Valley Malting in Washington and Mecca Grade Estate Malts in Oregon to provide a spicy, earthy malt backbone and cantaloupes grown by Lowlands Farms in Snohomish, Washington to add notes of stone fruit, lemon and white wine. It is lightly hopped with Loral hops from Yakima, Washington which provide notes of fruit and citrus with just a hint of herbs. Foeder-aged, this golden sour ale has complex acidity and light sweetness with a smooth, mouthwatering and refreshing finish.
